Our Purpose

Helios Treks was founded by a former management consultant. For work, he had traveled constantly. He enjoyed it at first. Yet, it lost its luster quickly. There would be a beautiful and luxurious hotel one day. The next day would bring the last room available in an undesirable location.

Over time, Chris (our founder) developed a different sense of what made travel fun. Luxury is always nice. But, there were often inexpensive simple hotels that were more fun. Some places were memorable; others were entirely forgettable.

Everyone has his or her own taste. People just need the tools so that they can find what they are looking for. Most travel web sites only allow you to search for hotels in a limited way. They also don't tell you what is good and bad about hotels. What are they like? Are there fun things to do nearby? And what are similar hotels (in style and character) that are nearby? We want to help you find places that maximize the fun per dollar ratio for you. If we can do that, we have succeeded!
